General Information
Common Area
Within our neighborhood is a spacious Common Area available
for use by all home owners. This area has a large pond containing bluegill,
catfish, bass, and many turtles. Fishing is permitted, but we encourage the
release of fish that are caught. A pier extends over the pond that can be used
for fishing, feeding of fish and ducks, and general relaxation. The
walking/jogging trail made of pebble gravel around the pond is approximately
one third (1/3) of one mile in length. The playground area has swings, a
sliding board, activity bars, and several picnic tables always available for
use. A natural wooded area behind the pond is available for a quiet nature
walk, and you may see various wildlife including squirrels, deer, and owls. A
beautiful fountain in the pond runs during summer months to aerate the pond.
Schools and Library
The children of our neighborhood may attend
Lake
Wylie
Elementary
School,
SouthWest
Middle School
, and Olympic High School. A Charlotte Public Library branch is
located one mile south on
Steel Creek
Road
.
Trash Pickup
The City picks up general household trash and recyclables each
Thursday. If Thursday falls on a City Employee holiday, the pick up is made on the next
working day. Bulky household items such as appliances, carpet, or mattresses must
be scheduled for pick up by calling Solid Waste Management at
704-336-2673.
Yard waste including limbs and leaves are picked up once a week, generally on
the same day as trash and recyclables.
Homeowners Association
Greycrest home owners are all members of our Homeowners
Association (HOA). A HOA Board made up of five (5) home owners is elected by
the home owners at an annual meeting. This meeting is normally held at a
school, church, or library in the community each February. A notice is sent to
each home owner informing them of the time, date, and location of the annual
meeting. The HOA requires that annual dues be collected from each home owner,
which are used for landscaping and lawn maintenance of the common areas and
entrance ways, electrical use, pond management, insurance, neighborhood
activities, and other expenses related to the upkeep of our neighborhood.
The City of
Charlotte
maintains a very informative website at www.charmeck.org
where you may find a wealth of information on topics including city government,
city restrictions, and parks and recreation facilities.
